Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations2

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Customs Act 1901.

Importation of objectionable goods

Regulation 4a of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations is amended

(a) by omitting from paragraph (1a) (a) “, in the opinion of the Attorney-General or a person authorized by him for the purposes of this sub-regulation”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (1a) (b) “, in the opinion of the Attorney-General or a person authorized by him for the purposes of this sub-regulation”;

(c) by omitting sub-regulation (1b);

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) all the words from and including “, after” to and including “regulation,”;

(e) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (2) “or a person authorized by the Attorney-General for the purposes of this sub-regulation”;

(f) by omitting sub-regulation (2a) and substituting the following sub-regulation:

“(2a) The Attorney-General may, by instrument in writing, appoint a person to be an authorized person for the purposes of sub-regulation (2).”; and

(g) by inserting in sub-regulation (3) “or a person authorized by the Attorney-General for the purposes of sub-regulation (2)” after “Attorney-General”.
