REGULATIONS
UNDER THE CUSTOMS ACT 1901-1936.*
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the Customs Act 1901-1936.

Amendments
of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations.
1. The First Schedule to
the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations is amended by omitting item 12 and
inserting in its stead the following item:—
“12
| Cigars and cigarettes containing
explosive substances; explosive substances suitable for insertion into cigars
and cigarettes; trick cigars and articles of a similar nature which are a
danger to the community”.

Schedule.
2. After item 3 in the
Third Schedule to the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations, the following
item is inserted:—
“3a
| Clinical
thermometers......
| 1. Each thermometer shall be marked
with— (a) the name of the manufacturer; (b) the name of the country in which it was manufactured; and (c) an identification number
2. Each thermometer shall be
accompanied by a certificate approved by the Comptroller-General setting
forth— (a) the name of the manufacturer of the thermometer; (b) the identification number of the thermometer; (c) a statement that the thermometer has been tested by the National
Physical Laboratory, Teddington, Middlesex, England, or by some other
authority approved by the Comptroller-General with tests similar to those applied by the
National Physical Laboratory and has
been found to comply, as to accuracy of the scale, with the requirements of
the British Standard Specification for
Clinical Maximum Thermometers No. 69—1936; and (d) the name of the testing authority”.
