An Act to indemnify the Collector and Officers of Customs in respect of the remission of certain Customs Duties payable at Albury. [24th July, 1854.]

WH E R E A S on t h e n o r t h e r n side of t h e River M u r r a y A n d whereas
a Cus tom House has lately been established a t A l b u r y
previously to such es tabl i shment cer ta in persons in A lbu ry and other

places adjacent the re to and s i tua te w i th in t h e Colony of N e w South W a l e s had given directions for the purchase a n d t ransmiss ion to t h e m from M e l b o u r n e in t h e Colony of Victor ia of var ious dut iable goods A n d whereas such goods were procured and t r ansmi t t ed accordingly such goods h a v i n g paid a t Me lbourne t he dut ies of Cus toms chargeable the reon by the laws of t he said Colony of Victoria A n d whereas the Collector of Cus toms for t h e Colony of N e w South W a l e s has wi th

t h e sanct ion of t h e Governor and Execu t ive Counci l thereof allowed
the said goods to be admi t t ed a t A l b u r y aforesaid wi thou t paymen t of
t h e dut ies of Cus toms chargeable the reon upon such admission A n d

whereas unde r t h e special c i rcumstances of t h e case i t is expedient t h a t t h e said Collector of Cus toms and all Officers concerned in t he admission of t h e said goods w i thou t p a y m e n t of du ty the reon wi th in th i s Colony as aforesaid should be indemnified in respect thereof Be i t therefore enacted b y H i s Excel lency t h e Governor of N e w South W a l e s by and wi th t h e advice and consent of t h e Legis la t ive Council thereof T h a t t h e said Collector of Cus toms a n d all Officers concerned in admission of t he said goods w i thou t p a y m e n t of du ty the reon as aforesaid shal l be and they are hereby indemnified and held harmless in respect of such non -paymen t of du ty as aforesaid.
