AN ACT to amend the present Customs Tariff.

[Assented to, 9th September, a9g.]

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the present Customs Tariff :

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parlia- ment assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

THIS Act may be cited as the Customs Duties Amendment

(i.) THE Acts mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act

are hereby repealed.

First Schedule.

(2.) Such repeal shall not affect any proclamation, appoint- ment, rule, regulation, affidavit, declaration, order, or registration made, or any permit, security, notice, or certificate given, or any surety, bail, bond, or recognisance entered into, or any information laid, or any service effected, or any license or warrant granted, or any return furnished, or any memorial presented, or any arrear of duty due, or any act validated under the said Acts, or any of them, before the commencement of this Act.

3. NOT-WITHSTANDING anything contained in the Tariff

Act, 1893, or in any Acts amending the same, from and after the coming into operation of this Act there shall be charged, raised, collected, levied, and paid to Her Majesty upon all

goods, wares, articles, merchandise, and things enumerated or included in the Second Schedule to this Act, imported into Western Australia, whether by sea or land, such duties as are respectively specified in the said Second Schedule to this Act, at the rates and for the quantities therein mentioned, and at proportional rates for any smaller quantities, and such duties shall be payable also upon any of the said goods, wares, articles, merchandise, and things which are now in any bonded warehouse.

Mode of levying

THE, said Customs duties shall be collected and levied in the manner provided by, and subject and according to the provisions of any Act or Law for the time being in force for the general regulation of the Customs of the Colony.

ast thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, in regard to any goods, wares, articles, merchandise and things enumerated or included in the Second Schedule to this Act shall be as valid as if this Act had been passed and had come into operation on the said date.

(2.) The Customs Duties imposed by this Act shall, on and after the said date, be paid, collected, and recovered, and payments in respect thereof may be repaid and adjusted as if this Act had been passed and had come into operation on the said date.
