An Ordinance to repeal certain Ordinances for imposing Duties on Imported Goods, and for Exemption of certain Goods from Duties, and to make other provisions in lieu thereof.
HEREAS an Ordinance was passed in the ninth year of the Preamble.

repeal certain Acts imposing duties on goods imported into Western
Australia, and to impose other duties in lieu thereof ;" and whereas it is expedient to alter the amount of duty thereby charged upon several articles ;—Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advcie

Ordinance shall be and the same is hereby repealed, except so much of the same as repeals any former Ordinance, and that from and after the passing of this Ordinance there shall be charged, raised, collected, levied and paid upon all goods, wares and merchandise (except as hereinafter provided for), and upon all live stock import- ed into this colony, the duites respectively specified in the first
Rate of Duties in Sebed- Schedule hereunto annexed.
AND be it enacted, that the duties herein mentioned shall of any Ordinance or Ordinances for the time being in force for the general regulation of the Customs of the colony ;—Provided always, nevertheless, that the said duties shall be charged upon the value of the articles at the place of Importation, which value shall, for the purposes of the present Ordinance, be deemed and taken to be the invoice price of the said articles, with the addition of twenty per cent. thereon.

AND whereas in the tenth year of the Reign of her present Majesty an Ordinance was passed, intituled "an Ordinance to ex- empt certain goods from duties ;" and whereas it is expedient to repeal the same and to embody some of its provisions in this Ordi- nance: be it therefore enacted, that.the said Ordinance shall be and

free of duty, and further also that it shall be lawful for the Governor or Officer administering the Government, with the advice of the Ex- ecutive Council, upon any special application made to him for that purpose, to exempt from the payment of duty any particular goods or article which under the special circumstances of the case shall be deemed to merit such exemption.

Table of Ditties.
1.—On spirits the production and manufacture of any part of the British Empire, a duty of eight shillings for each and every Imperial gallon not exceeding the strength of hydrometer proof, and in the same proportion for the like spirits of greater strength.
2.—On spirits of Foreign production and manufacture imported into tiles aid colony from any part of the British Empire, a duty of ten shillings for each and every Imperial gallon not exceeding the strength of Hydrometer proof, and in the same proportion for like spirits of greater strength.
3.—On spirits of Foreign production and manufacture imported into the said colony from any Foreign place, a duty of twelve shil- lings for each and every Imperial gallon not exceeding the strength of Hydrometer proof, and in the same proportion for like spirits of greater strength.
4.—On each and every Imperial gallon of wine the produce of any
part of the British Empire, sixpence. j
5.—On each and every Imperial gallon of wine the produce of any
other place, one shilling and sixpence.
6.—On each and every pound weight of cigars and snuff, five shil-
lings.
7.—On each and every pound weight of leaf tabacco, three pence.
8.—On each and e very pound weight of other tobacco, one shilling.
9.—On each and every pound weight of tobacco boiled down, in

bond, for the purpose of being used as a sheep wash, subject to regulations to be from time to time issued by the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, one penny.
10.—On all live stock from any part of the British Empire, five
pounds for every hundred pounds according to their value.
11--On all live stock from any other place, ten pounds for every
hundred pounds according to their value.
12.—On all goods, wares and merchandise, imported into this colony and not otherwise charged with a specific duty and not here- inafter set forth as free of duty, being the growth, produce or manufaeture of any part of the British Empire a duty of five pounds sterling for every hundred pounds in value thereof, and so proportion for every greater or less value.
13.—On all goods, wares, and merchandise, imported into this col ony and not otherwise charged with a specific duty, and not hereinafter set forth as free of duty, being the growth, produce, and manufacture of a Foreign State, a duty of ten pounds sterling for every hundred pounds in value thereof, and so in proportion for every greater or less value.

7.—All articles of Naval and Military Uniform and Appointments imported by Officers stationed in this Colony for their own
use.
