Customs (Cinematograph Films) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Customs (Cinematograph Films) Regulations.

2.Regulation 2a of the Principal Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

Application of Regulations

“2a. These Regulations, other than regulation 39D, apply to and in relation to a film that is imported for public exhibition.”.

Interpretation

3. Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting “Cinematograph Films” from the definition of “the Board of Review” and substituting “Film and Literature”.

Constitution of Board of Review

4. Regulation 35 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from sub regulation (1) “Cinematograph Films” and substituting “Film and Literature”.

Applications to the Board of Review

5. Regulation 39 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from sub regulation (2) “Form 7” and substituting “a form approved by the Chief Censor”.

Additional functions of Censorship Board, Censor and Board of Review

6. Regulation 39D of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting from sub regulation (1) “films,” and substituting “films and publications,”;

(b) by omitting sub regulation (2) and substituting the following sub regulation:

“(2) In sub regulation (1) ‘publication’ means any book, paper, magazine, or other written or pictorial matter that is made available, or is intended to be made available, for exhibition, display, sale, letting on hire or distribution to the public”.

Repeal of the Schedule

7. The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is repealed.
