An Act to amend the Customs Act
1901-1974.
BE
IT ENACTED by the Queen, the Senate and the House of Representatives of
Australia, as follows:—
Short title and
citation.
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Customs Act 1975.
(2)
The Customs
Act 1901-1974, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Customs Act
1901-1975.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day
on which the Customs
Tariff (Anti-Dumping) Act 1975 comes into operation.
Cancellation
of bonds.
3. Section 45 of the Customs Act 1901-1974 is amended by adding at the
end thereof the following sub-section:—
“(2) A security in
respect of any duty that may be payable on goods under section 8, 9, 10 or 11
of the Customs
Tariff (Anti-Dumping) Act 1975 shall be cancelled before the
expiration of 3 months after the date of the security, or before the expiration
of such longer period, not exceeding 6 months after the date of the security,
as the exporter and the importer of the goods request.”.
