Amendment Act 1998

An Act to amend the Curtin University of Technology Act 1966.

[Assented to 5 November 1998]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1.             Short title

This Act may be cited as the Curtin University of Technology

Amendment Act 1998.

2.             Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3.             The Act amended

The amendments in this Act are to the Curtin University of

Technology Act 1966*.

4.             Section 7 amended

After section 7(2) the following subsection is inserted —

(3)

The University may carry out its functions and exercise

its powers, including the power to enter into business

arrangements, within or outside the State.

”.

5.             Section 21A amended

Section 21A(1) is amended by deleting “in the State”.

6.             Section 34 amended

Section 34(1) is amended by inserting after paragraph (m) the following paragraphs —

(ma)

the affiliation to or in connection with the

University of any educational establishment,

with the consent of the governing body of the

educational establishment;

(mb)

the establishment and conduct of external

teaching and educational facilities within or

outside the State;

”.
