1  Name of determination

This determination is the Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2015 (No. 2).

2  Commencement

This determination commences on the day after it is registered.

3  Authority

This determination is made under paragraph 13(2)(b) and subsection 13A(1) of the Currency Act 1965.

4  Definitions

In this determination:

Act means the Currency Act 1965.

5  Specification of denominations and standard compositions

(1) This section is made for paragraph 13(2)(b) of the Act.

(2)  The Act has effect, on and after the day on which this determination commences, as if:

(a)  there were included in the Schedule to the Act the references to denominations of money specified in Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this determination; and

(b)  there were specified in the Schedule to the Act opposite to each such denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition specified for the denomination in Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this determination.

(3) This section does not affect any other determination made for paragraph 13(2)(b) of the Act.

6  Standard weight, design and dimension of coins

(1) This section is made for subsection 13A(1) of the Act.

(2)  On and after the day when this determination commences, each item of the table in Part 1 of Schedule 1 specifies the standard weight, the allowable variation from that standard weight, the design and the dimensions of a coin whose denomination is specified, or taken to be specified in the Schedule to the Act.

(3)       Each item of the table in Part 2 of Schedule 1 explains a symbol used to describe the design of coins specified in Part 1 of Schedule 1.

(4) This section does not affect any other determination made under subsection 13A(1) of the Act.

1  Specifications

Each item of the following table specifies the standard weight, the allowable variation from that standard weight, the design and the dimensions of a coin.

8 Reverse R1

A design consisting of:

(a)   in the centre, a stylised representation of a red flower; and

(b)   in the background, stylised representations  of flowers; and

(c)   in the foreground, stylised representations of the contour of flowers; and

(d)   a series of raised beads and stylised representations of a flower, arranged in a repetitive pattern inside the rim of the coin; and

(e)   the following:

          (i)     ‘1 DOLLAR’;

         (ii)     ‘WWI-WAR HEROES’.

9 Reverse R2

A design consisting of:

(a)   a central circle containing a stylised representation of King John’s seal and the following:

          (i)     ‘20’;

         (ii)     ‘1215-2015’;

        (iii)     ‘MAGNA CARTA’; and

(b)   surrounding the central circle, the following:

          (i)     a stylised representation of a cross;

         (ii)     the inscription ‘IOhᾹNNԐS’, followed by 3 dots positioned in a vertical line;

        (iii)     the inscription ‘DЄI’, followed by 3 dots positioned in a vertical line;

        (iv)     the inscription ‘GRᾹCIᾹ’, followed by 3 dots positioned in a vertical line;

        (v)     the inscription ‘ᾹNGLIЄ’, followed by 3 dots positioned in a vertical line;

        (vi)     the inscription ‘DOMINVS’, followed by 3 dots positioned in a vertical line;

10 Reverse R3

A design consisting of:

(a)   a gold plated representation of the arms of the Commonwealth; and

(b)   the following:

          (i)     ‘50’;

         (ii)     the designer’s initials ‘SD’.

11 Reverse R4

A design consisting of:

(a)   a central circle; and

(b)   surrounding the central circle, an ornamental border comprising a stylised coloured representation of soil and foliage; and

(c)   in the foreground and partially obscuring the central circle and border, the following:

          (i)     a representation of a donkey wearing a band on its forehead featuring a cross;

         (ii)     a cross containing the number ‘1915’.

12 Reverse R5

A design consisting of:

(a)   a stylised coloured representation of a barometer, including the numbers ‘5’, ‘29’, ‘5’, ‘30’, ‘1000’, ‘1’, ‘950’, ‘960’, ‘970’, ‘980’, ‘990’, ‘1000’, ‘1010’ and ‘1020’; and

(b)   in the foreground and partially obscuring the barometer, a stylised representation of a gun containing the following:

          (i)     a stylised representation of a cat;

         (ii)     ‘V’;

        (iii)     ‘S’;

        (iv)     ‘M’;

        (v)     ‘TEEL’;

        (vi)     ‘12149’.
