1  Name of Determination

This Determination is the Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2009 (No. 9).

2  Commencement

This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.

3  Definition

In this Determination:

Act means the Currency Act 1965.

4  Coin denomination and standard composition

(1)  For paragraphs 13(2)(a) and (b) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:

(a)  there were included in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the reference to the denomination “Five cents”, the standard composition “At least 99.99% gold” as the standard composition of coins of that denomination; and

(b)  there were included in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the reference to the denomination “Ten cents”, the standard composition “At least 99.99% gold” as the standard composition of coins of that denomination; and

(c)  there were included in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the reference to the denomination “Twenty cents”, the standard composition “At least 99.99% gold” as the standard composition of coins of that denomination; and

(d)  there were included in the Schedule to the Act, a reference to the denomination “Two dollars” and there were specified in the Schedule, opposite that denomination, the standard composition “At least 99.99% gold” as the standard composition of coins of that denomination.

(2)  Subsection (1) does not affect any other determination made under paragraph 13(2)(a) or (b) of the Act.

5  Specifications of coins

For subsection 13A(1) of the Act, each item in Schedule 1 specifies, for a coin having the denomination and standard composition mentioned in the item:

(a)  the coin’s standard weight; and

(b)  the allowable variation from that standard weight; and

(c)  the coin’s dimensions; and

(d)  the coin’s design.

6  Application of Determination

The specifications in Schedule 1 do not affect any other determination of the specifications of a coin.
