  1. Name of Determination [see Note 1]

This Determination is the Currency (Perth Mint) Determination 2009 (No. 2).

  1. Commencement [see Note 1]

This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.

  1. Definition

In this Determination:

Act means the Currency Act 1965.

  1. Specification of standard composition for coin denomination already specified in Act

(1)   This section is made for paragraph 13 (2) (a) of the Act.

(2)   The Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if the reference in the Schedule to the Act opposite the reference to a denomination mentioned in an item of the following table to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition mentioned in column 3 of the table.

  1. Specification of denomination and standard composition

(1)   For paragraph 13 (2) (a) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:

(a)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Thirty thousand dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(b)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Fifteen hundred dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(c)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Eight hundred dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(d)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Three hundred dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ and ‘not less than 99.9% silver’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(e)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Twenty dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(f)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Eight dollars’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination the standard composition ‘not less than 99.99% gold’ and ‘not less than 99.9% silver’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination; and

(g)    there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Fifty-five cents’, and there were specified in the Schedule opposite that denomination, the standard composition ‘not less than 99.9% silver’ as the standard composition for coins of that denomination.

(2)   Subsection (1) does not affect any other determination made under paragraph 13 (2) (b) of the Act.

  1. Specification of coins

For subsection 13A (1) of the Act, each item in Schedule 1 specifies, for a coin having the denomination and standard composition mentioned in the item:

(a)    the coin’s standard weight; and

(b)    the allowable variation from that standard weight; and

(c)    the coin’s dimensions; and

(d)    the coin’s design.

  1. Application of Determination

The specifications in Schedule 1 do not affect any other determination of the specification of a coin.
