This Determination is the Currency (Perth Mint) Determination 2006 (No. 2).
Commencement
This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.
Definition
In this Determination:
Act means the Currency Act 1965.
Standard composition of coins
(1) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Twenty-five cents’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.9% silver’.
(2) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Fifty cents’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘aluminium bronze’.
(3) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘One dollar’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.9% silver’.
(4) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Two dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.9% silver’.
(5) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Five dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(6) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Five dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(7) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Ten dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.9% silver’.
(8) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Fifteen dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(9) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Fifteen dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(10) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Twenty-five dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(11) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Twenty-five dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(12) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Thirty dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.9% silver’.
(13) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Fifty dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(14) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Fifty dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(15) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘One hundred dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(16) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘One hundred dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(17) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Two hundred dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(18) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if a reference in the Schedule to the Act, opposite to the denomination ‘Two hundred dollars’, to the standard composition of coins of that denomination were a reference to the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
(19) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘One thousand dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.99% gold’.
(20) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘One thousand dollars’; and

(22) For subsection 13 (2) of the Act, the Act has effect, on and after the day on which this Determination commences, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to the denomination ‘Three thousand dollars’; and
(b) there were specified in the Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the standard composition ‘at least 99.95% platinum’.
Specification of coins
For subsection 13A (1) of the Act, each item in Schedule 1 specifies, for a coin having the denomination and standard composition specified in that item:
(a) the coin’s standard weight, and the allowable variation from that weight; and
(b) the coin’s dimensions; and
(c) the coin’s designs.
Application of Determination
(1) The standard compositions specified in section 4 do not affect any other determination of the standard composition of a coin.
(2) The specifications in Schedule 1 do not affect any other determination of the specifications of a coin.
