Criminal Law (Aggravated Burglary and Repeat Offenders) Act 2000

An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Justices Act 1959 and the Sentencing Act 1997

[Royal Assent 28 April 2000]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Criminal Law (Aggravated Burglary and Repeat Offenders) Act 2000 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Criminal Code amendedSection 245(a) of the Criminal Code is amended by omitting subparagraph (ii). 4Justices Act 1959 amended Section 72(1)(c) of the Justices Act 1959 is amended by omitting " section 244 of the Criminal Code " and substituting " section 244 or 245(a)(iii) of the Criminal Code ". 5Sentencing Act 1997 amended Section 13(b) of the Sentencing Act 1997 is amended by omitting "3 years" and substituting "5 years".
