An Act to amend the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 1983
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Amendment) Act 1992.
Principal Act
2. In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 1983.1
Interpretation
3. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) each definition of “Registrar”.
Application for compensation
4. Section 10 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (4) “or the Registrar” and substituting “of the Supreme Court or of the Magistrates Court”.
Registrar of the Magistrates Court
5. (1) Each of the following provisions of the Principal Act is amended by inserting “of the Magistrates Court” after “Registrar”:
Paragraph 10 (1A) (b) and subsection 12 (2).
(2) Subsection 30 (2) of the Principal Act is amended by inserting “of the Magistrates Court” after “Registrar” (first occurring).
Registrar of the Supreme Court
6. Each of the following provisions of the Principal Act is amended by inserting “of the Supreme Court” after “Registrar” (wherever occurring):
Subsection 2 (1) (definitions of “court” and “inquiry”), paragraph 10 (1A) (a), subsection 11 (3), sections 19 and 20, subsections 21 (1), (2) and (3), sections 22 and 23, paragraph 23 (b), subsection 24 (1), paragraph 24 (1) (b), sections 25 and 26, subsection 28 (1), paragraph 28 (4) (a), subsection 30 (1), paragraph 30 (2) (c), section 34, subsection 35 (1) and paragraph 35 (1) (d).
Application
7. The amendments effected by this Act shall be taken to have commenced on 25 September 1991.

NOTE ABOUT SECTION HEADINGS
On the day on which the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 1983 is amended by this Act, headings to sections of that Act are altered as set out in the following table:
Section Alteration
Add at the end of the heading “of the Supreme Court”.
Insert “of the Supreme Court” after “Registrar”.
Add at the end of the heading “of the Supreme Court”.
Omit “Registrar’s determination”, substitute “determination of Registrar of the Supreme Court”.
