This instrument is the Criminal Code (Terrorist Organisation—Islamic State) Regulations 2017.

    Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

5Terrorist organisation – Islamic State
  1. (1)

    For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of terrorist organisation in subsection 102.1(1) of the Criminal Code, the organisation known as Islamic State is specified.

  2. (2)

    Islamic State is also known by the following names:

    1. (a)

      Al‑Qa’ida in Iraq;

    2. (b)

      Al‑Qa’ida in Iraq – Zarqawi;

    3. (c)

      Al‑Qa’ida of Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers;

    4. (d)

      Al‑Qa’ida of Jihad Organization in the Land of the Two Rivers;

    5. (e)

      Al‑Tawhid;

    6. (f)

      Al‑Tawhid and al‑Jihad;

    7. (g)

      Brigades of Tawhid;

    8. (h)

      Dawla al‑Islamiya;

    9. (i)

      Dawla al‑Islamiya fi al‑Iraq wa as‑Sham;
