1Name

This instrument is the Criminal Code (Terrorist Organisation—Al-Qa’ida) Regulations 2019.

2Commencement

1. (1)

   Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

5Terrorist organisation – Al‑Qa’ida

1. (1)

   For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of terrorist organisation in subsection 102.1(1) of the Criminal Code, the organisation known as Al‑Qa’ida is specified.

2. (2)

   Al‑Qa’ida is also known by the following names:

   1. (a)

      Al‑Jihad al‑Qaeda;

   2. (b)

      Al Qaeda;

   3. (c)

      Al‑Qaeda;

   4. (d)

      Al‑Qaida;

   5. (e)

      AQ;

   6. (f)

      The Base;

   7. (g)

      The Group for the Preservation of the Holy Sites;

   8. (h)

      International Front for Fighting Jews and Crusaders;

   9. (i)

      Islamic Army;

   10. (j)

       The Islamic Army for the Liberation of Holy Places;

   11. (k)

       Islamic Army for the Liberation of Holy Sites;

   12. (l)

       Islamic Salvation Foundation;

   13. (m)

       The Jihad Group;

   14. (n)

       New Jihad;

   15. (o)

       Usama Bin Laden Network;

   16. (p)

       Usama Bin Laden Organisation;

   17. (q)

       The World Islamic Front for Jihad against Jews and Crusaders.
