1Name

This is the Criminal Code (Terrorist Organisation—Al-Qa’ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb) Regulation 2016.

2Commencement

1. (1)

   Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

5Terrorist organisation – Al‑Qa’ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb

1. (1)

   For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of terrorist organisation in subsection 102.1(1) of the Criminal Code, the organisation known as Al‑Qa’ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb is specified.

2. (2)

   Al‑Qa’ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb is also known by the following names:

   1. (a)

      Al Qaida au Maghreb Islamique;

   2. (b)

      Al‑Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb;

   3. (c)

      Al‑Qa’ida Organisation in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb;

   4. (d)

      AQIM;

   5. (e)

      Le Groupe Salafiste Pour La Predication et Le Combat;

   6. (f)

      Salafist Group for Call and Combat;

   7. (g)

      Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat;

   8. (h)

      Tanzim al‑Qa’ida fi bilad al‑Maghreb al‑Islamiya.
