Arrangement for conduct of election.

[1]        On 6 July 2016, the PSU Group of the CPSU, the Community and Public Sector

Union, (the PSU Group) lodged with the Fair Work Commission prescribed information.

Following an initial assessment of the prescribed information, staff of the Fair Work

Commission’s Regulatory Compliance Branch consulted with the PSU Group and additional

material, supporting evidence and further prescribed information was lodged.

[2]        The prescribed information concerned the following offices:

Section Officers (4) – insufficient nominations refer to Schedule A

in previous elections (E2014/173 & E2015/203)

Section Officers (11) – casual vacancies refer to Schedule B
Governing Councillors (3) – casual vacancies refer to Schedule C

[3]        At the same time, the PSU Group lodged prescribed information under subsection

187(3) of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 in relation to an election for the

following positions:

Section Councillors (114) – insufficient nominations refer to Schedule D
in previous elections (E2014/173 & E2015/203)
Section Councillors (37) – casual vacancies refer to Schedule E
Section Councillor – new sub-section refer to Schedule F

[4]        I am satisfied that an election for the abovenamed offices is required to be held under

the rules of the organisation and, under subsection 189(3) of the Fair Work (Registered

Organisations) Act 2009, I am making arrangements for the conduct of the election by the

Australian Electoral Commission.

[5]        In accordance with the rules of the organisation, persons elected to the positions

specified in Schedules A to E inclusive shall hold office for the unexpired portion of the term

of office.

[6]        In accordance with the rules of the organisation, the election for the position specified

in Schedule F shall be treated in the same manner as a casual vacancy and the person elected

shall therefore hold office for the same unexpired term as the casual vacancies filled as a

consequence of this decision.
