An Act to amend the Courts of Petty Sessions (Civil Claims) Act, 1970, as a
consequence of the enactment of the Legal Practitioners (Solicitors'
Remuneration) Amendment Act, 1984. [Assented to, 19th June, 1984.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the "Courts of Petty Sessions (Civil Claims)
(Solicitors'Remuneration) Amendment Act, 1984".
Commencement.
2. (1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this
Act.
(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Legal Practitioners (Solicitors' Remuneration) Amendment Act, 1984.
Amendment of Act No. 11, 1970.
3. The Courts of Petty Sessions (Civil Claims) Act, 1970, is amended
in the manner set forth in Schedule 1.

AMENDMENTS TO THE COURTS OF PETTY SESSIONS (CIVIL CLAIMS) ACT,
1970.
(1) Sections 27 (1 ) (b) (iii), 34, 36A (1) —
Omit "the prescribed scale" wherever occurring, insert instead "the rules".

At the end of section 37, insert:—
(2) For the purposes of this Act, the rules may regulate the application of scales or other amounts of costs fixed by determina- tions under section 2 0 J (2) of the Legal Practitioners Act, 1898, to the ascertainment of professional costs in proceedings under this Act.
