Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Court Security Act 2005.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to prescribe certain items (such as glass bottles, skateboards, tools and spray cans) that a person entering court premises may be required to deposit with a security officer for safekeeping.
This Regulation is made under the Court Security Act 2005, including sections 11 (1) (d) and

30 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Court Security Amendment (Surrender of
Property) Regulation 2012.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Court Security Regulation 2011

Clause 6A

Insert after clause 6:

6A Items required to be surrendered for safekeeping

The following things and classes of things are prescribed for the purposes of section 11 (1) (d) of the Act:

(a) glass bottles and other glass containers,
(b) sporting bats and any other sporting equipment that is capable of being used as a weapon,
(c) hammers and screwdrivers and any other tools that are capable of being used as a weapon,
(d) scooters, skateboards and other personal transport items,
(e) spray cans,
(f) marker pens.
