No. 21 of 1932.

AN OBD1NANCE

To amend the Court of Petty Sessions Ordinance

(No. 2) 1930.

BE it ordained b}- the Governor-General in and over the Com-Executive Council, pursuant to the powers conferred by the Seat monwealth of Australia, with the advice of the Federal of Government Acceptance Act 1909 and the Seat of Government
(Administration) Act 1910-1931, as follows:—

1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Court of Petty short title and

Sessions Ordinance 1932. cltation-

(2.) The Court of Petty Sessions Ordinance (No. 2) 1930 is

in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance,

may be cited as the Court of Petty Sessions Ordinance 1930-1932.

2. After section twenty-three of the Principal Ordinance the

following section is inserted:—

" 23A. The Court shall have jurisdiction to make any Order Bequests under

or take any action which is necessary in order to comply regarding
with any request received from the Consular or other proceedings
regarding Legal Proceedings in Civil and Commercial Matters Matters authority of a foreign country, with which a Convention commercial

has been made and extended to the Commonwealth, for the service of documents in the Territory or for the taking of evidence in the Territory."

3. Section two hundred and fifty-eight of the Principal ituiesand

Ordinance is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (/) of sub-section (1.)

the word " and " ; and

(6) by adding at the end of sub-section (1.) the following I

paragraph:—" and

(g) the service of documents, and the taking of

evidence, in the Territory, in pursuance of
any Request from the Consular or other
proper authority of a foreign country under

the terms of any Convention relating to

Legal Proceedings in Civil and Commercial Matters to which the Commonwealth is a party."
