County Court (Chapter I Hague Convention Amendments) Rules 2019

A majority of the Judges of the County Court makes the following Rules:

1Object

The object of these Rules is to amend Chapter I of the Rules of the County Court in relation to documents served in accordance with the Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters.

2Authorising provisions

These Rules are made under section 78 of the County Court Act 1958 and all other enabling powers.

3Commencement

These Rules come into operation on 27 August 2019.

4Note 3 in Part 1 of Order 80 substituted

In Part 1 of Order 80 of the County Court Civil Procedure Rules 2018[1], for Note 3 substitute—

"Note 3

Information about the Hague Convention, including a copy of the Hague Convention, a list of all Contracting States, details of declarations and reservations made under the Hague Convention by each of those States and the names and addresses of the central and other authorities of each of those States, can be found at the website of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.".

5Form 80B amended

In Form 80B of the County Court Civil Procedure Rules 2018, for "[Central Authority/additional authority]:" substitute "[person to be served]:".
