Act No. 7, 1945.

An Act to extinguish certain debts of the Councils of the Municipalities of Brewarrina and Cobar in respect of works of water supply ; to reduce certain other debts of the Council of the Municipality of Cobar in respect of works of water supply; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assent-

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­	Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the "Country Towns Water Supply (Reduction of Debts) Act, 1945."
2. (1) The debt to the Colonial Treasurer of the Council of the Municipality of Cobar in respect of the works of water supply constructed by the Minister for Public Works, being the works referred to in Gazette number four hundred and twenty-seven, dated eighteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and three, is hereby declared to be the sum of six thousand four hundred and thirty-two pounds. Such sum shall as from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, be the amount of the debt chargeable upon the revenues of the said Council in respect of the said water supply and shall for all purposes be deemed to be a capital debt notified by the Governor pursuant to section three hundred and seventy-four of the Local Government Act, 1919, as amended by subsequent Acts.
(2) The period for repayment of the aforesaid debt of six thousand four hundred and thirty-two pounds shall be forty years from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, and the sum pay­ able half-yearly by the Council of the Municipality of Cobar in liquidation of such debt shall be one hundred and fifty pounds.

(3) The liability of the Council of the Municipality of Cobar to the Colonial Treasurer owing on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, in respect of the works of water supply referred to in sub­ section one of this section, other than as stated in the said subsection, is hereby extinguished.

3. (1) The liability to the Colonial Treasurer of the councils of each of the municipalities named in the first column of the Schedule to this Act in respect of the works of water supply which are specified in the second column

thereof, is hereby extinguished.

(2) The provisions of section three hundred and seventy-four of the Local Government Act, 1919, as to notification of capital debt shall not apply to the works of water supply in the Municipality of Cobar referred to in Gazette number one hundred and eleven dated the seventeenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four.

4. The liability to the Colonial Treasurer of the Council of the Municipality of Brewarrina in respect of a sum of five hundred pounds advanced to such Council by the Colonial Treasurer on or about the sixth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty, towards the cost of carrying out water supply reticulation works within the town of Brewarrina is hereby extinguished.
