1—Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Coroners Regulations 2005.

3—Interpretation

In these regulations—

Act means the Coroners Act 2003.

4—Specified procedures excluded from definition of reportable death

  1. Paragraph (d) of the definition of reportable death in section 3 of the Act does not apply to the procedures specified in subregulation (2).

  2. The following procedures are specified:

    (a)the giving of an intravenous injection;

    (b)the giving of an intramuscular injection;

    (c)intravenous therapy;

    (d)the insertion of a line or cannula;

    (e)artificial ventilation;

    (f)cardio-pulmonary resuscitation;

    (g)urethral catheterisation;

    (h)the insertion of a naso-gastric tube;

    (i)intra-arterial blood gas collection;

    (j)venipuncture for blood collection for testing;

    (k)the giving of a subcutaneous injection or infusion;

    (l)ear syringing;

    (m)acupuncture.

5—Fees payable to appointed coroners

A legal practitioner who is appointed to be a coroner under section 6(1) of the Act will, in respect of each day on which he or she undertakes coronial duties at the direction of the State Coroner, be paid a fee to be calculated as follows:

Schedule 1—Section 37 fees

For each application to inspect a record or any other documentary or evidentiary material

$25.30

For a copy of the transcript of evidence, or the findings and any recommendations of the Court, or an order made by the Court—

    (a)    in electronic form

$8.50 per page

    (b)    in hard‑copy form

$10.90 per page

Note—

1 copy will be supplied to a person who appears before the Court under section 20 of the Act free of charge in electronic form or hard‑copy form, as specified by the person.

For a copy of any other document

$5.10 per page
