AN ACT for the establishment of a Copyright

Register.

[ Assented to, 22nd July, 1887. ]

WHEREAS the Imperial Parliament of the United Kingdom

Preamble.

of Great Britain and Ireland has enacted the "International Copyright Act, 1886 :" Be it enacted by His Excellency .the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows: —

1. THAT a Copyright Register be established in this Colony, in

A Book of Registry wherein may be registered, as hereinafter enacted, the proprietorship in the copyright of books and assignments thereof, and in dramatic and musical pieces, whether in manuscript or otherwise, and licenses affecting such copyright, shall be kept by the Registrar General at his office, and shall at all convenient times be open to the inspection of any person on payment of One shilling for every entry which shall be searched for or inspected in the said book ; and the Registrar
