Control of Naval Waters Act 1918

I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and under subsection 3B (2) of the Control of Naval Waters Act 1918 (the Act):

(a)revoke all instruments made under section 3B of the Act; and

(b)declare that, with effect from the date of notification of this Proclamation in the Gazette, the waters specified in column 3 of an item in a Schedule to this Proclamation, and further explained in the chart or map mentioned in column 4 of the item, that are within the distance specified in subsection 3B (1) of the Act from the installation or defence land specified in column 2 of the item are naval waters for the purposes of the Act.

4 Swan Island

Area A

All the waters within an area commencing at a point at the high water mark on the most northerly point of Point Norgate, Swan Island (Point 1).

From Point 1 proceed straight bearing 020º for a distance of 0.66nm to the HWL on the most southern point of Duck Island (Point 2).

From Point 2 proceed along the HWL on the eastern side of Duck Island to the most north eastern point of Duck Island (Point 3).

From Point 3 proceed straight bearing 133º for a distance of 1.48nm.  Then proceed in a straight line bearing 193º for a distance of 1.22nm.  Then proceed in a straight line bearing 276º for a distance of 1.87nm.  Then proceed in a straight line bearing 310º to the HWL on the southern shore of Swan Island (Point 4).

From Point 4 proceed along the HWL on the western shore of Swan Island to Point 1.

Area B

All those waters within an area commencing at a point at the high water mark on the south eastern shore of Langerby Island (also known as Rabbit Island), at a distance of six feet to the east, from the eastern side of the bridge connecting Langerby Island and Queenscliff (Point 1).

From Point 1 proceed in a south-easterly direction in a straight line parallel to the eastern side of the bridge, to the HWL on the northern shore of Queenscliff (Point 2).

From Point 2 proceed in a westerly direction along the HWL on the northern shore of Queenscliff to a point six feet to the west of the western side of the bridge (Point 3).

From Point 3 proceed in a north-westerly direction in a straight line parallel to the western side of the bridge to the HWL on the south eastern shore of Langerby Island (Point 4).

From Point 4, proceed in a north-easterly direction along the HWL on the south-eastern shore of Langerby Island to Point 1.

Swan Island
