An Act to amend section 57A of the Consumer Protection Act, 1969, with respect to the punishment of offenders under the Motor Dealers Act, 1974. [Assented to, 21st June, 1985.]

Consumer Protection (Motor Dealers) Amendment 1985

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

This Act may be cited as the "Consumer Protection (Motor Dealers)

Amendment Act, 1985".
Commencement.

1.

(1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this Act. (2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

Amendment of Act No. 28, 1969.

3. The Consumer Protection Act, 1969, is amended by inserting in

section 57A (1) after the word "Minister" the words "(not including the
Motor Dealers Act, 1974)".

Application of amendment.

4. Section 57A (1) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1969, as in force immediately before the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2), continues to apply to a conviction or order under the Motor Dealers Act, 1974, made before that day as if this Act had not been enacted.
