Act No. 79, 1979.

An Act to amend section 16i of the Consumer Protection Act, 1969, as a consequence of the enactment of the Legal Services Commission Act, 1979. [Assented to, 16th May, 1979.1

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

  1. This Act may be cited as the "Consumer Protection (Legal

Services Commission) Amendment Act, 1979".

2.      (1) Except as provided in subsection ( 2 ) , this Act shall

commence on the date of assent to this Act.

( 2 ) Section 3 shall commence on the day appointed and

notified under section 2 ( 3 ) of the Legal Services Commission

Act, 1979.

3. The Consumer Protection Act, 1969, is amended by

omitting section 16i (1) (a) (i) and by inserting instead the
following subparagraph :—

(i)   the Public Solicitor or any other solicitor who is an officer of the Legal Services Commission of New South Wales, but only if that Commission has agreed to the case being so assigned;
