Regulations under the Consumer Affairs Ordinance 1973. *

C O N S U M E R A F F A I R S R E G U L A T I O N S

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Consumer Affairs Regulations.

2. In these Regulations, " the O r d i n a n c e " means the Consumer Affairs
Ordinance 1973.

3.   (1) The Chairman of the Council shall be paid—

(a)

in respect of his attendance on a day at a meeting of the Council the durat ion of whioh on that day is not less than three hou r s—a fee of For ty dollars; and

(b)

in respect of his attendance on a day at a meeting of the Council the durat ion of which on that day is less than three hou r s—a fee of Twenty-five dollars.

(2) Subject to sub-regulation (8), a member of the Council o ther than the

Chai rman shall be pa id—

(a)

in respect of his attendance on a day at a meeting of the Council the durat ion of whioh on that day is not less than three hour s—a fee of Thirty-five dollars; and

(b)

in respect of his attendance on a day at a meeting of the Council the durat ion of which on that day is less than three hour s—a fee of Twenty-dollars.

(3) Subject to sub-regulation (5), there is payable to the Cha i rman of the Council for each day on which he is engaged, with the approval of the Council , on business of the Counc i l—

(a) if the duration of the period during which he is so engaged on that day is not less than three hou r s—a fee of For ty dollars; or
(b) if the duration of the period during which he is so engaged on that day is less than three hou r s—a fee of Twenty-five dollars.

(4) Subject to sub-regulations (5) and (8), there is payable to a member of the Council other than the Cha i rman for each day on which he is engaged, with the approval of the Council , on business of the Counc i l—

(a)

if the duration of the period during which he is so engaged on that day is not less than three hours—a fee of Thirty-five dollars; or

(b)

if the duration of the period during which he is so engaged on that day is less than three hour s—a fee of Twenty dollars.

(5) Where the Cha i rman of the Council or a member of the Counci l—

(a) a t tends, on a day, a meeting of the Council ; and
(b) is also, on the same day, engaged for a period, with the approval of the Council , on other business of the Council ,

a fee is no t payable to h im in accordance wi th sub-regulation (3) o r sub- regulation (4) in respect of t he period referred to in paragraph (b) but the fee payable to h im in respect of that day in accordance with sub-regulation (1) or sub-regulation (2) is the fee that would be payable to him in respect of that day if, on t h a t day, h e had, in addition to at tending the meeting referred to in pa ragraph (a), also at tended a meeting of the Council during the period referred to in

pa rag raph (b).

(6 ) Subject to sub-regulation ( 8 ) , where the Cha i rman of the Council or a member of the Council is necessarily absent overnight from his place of res idence—

(a) in order to at tend a meet ing of the Council ; or

(b)

in order to perform any business of the Council on which he is engaged with the approval of the Council ,

travelling allowance in respect of the period of absence is payable to him at the
rate of Twenty-five dollars per day.

(7) Travelling allowance payable under the last preceding sub-regulation is in addition to , and does not include, the cost of conveyance.

(8) Fees and allowances are no t payable unde r this regulation to the member of the Council holding office under sub-section 5 (3 ) of the Ordinance or to a person acting in the office of that member .
