n The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:

la 1. Purpose
is The purpose of this Act is to amend the
g Constitution Act 1975—

L (a) to broaden the eligibility criteria for
n appointment as a Judge of the Supreme

Court; and

(b) to permit the appointment of an Acting Chief

to Justice and Acting President of the Court of
ic Appeal when there is, or is about to be, a
V vacancy in the relevant office.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day after the

ts day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

4. Appointment of Acting Chief Justice during vacancy

5. Appointment of Acting President during vacancy

After section 79A(1) of the Constitution Act
