Constitution (One Vote One Value) Amendment Act 2017

An Act to amend the Constitution Act 1934.

The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:

Part 1Preliminary1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Constitution (One Vote One Value) Amendment Act 2017.

2Amendment provisions

In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a specified Act amends the Act so specified.

Part 2Amendment of Constitution Act 19343Amendment of section 83 – Criteria
  1. (1)

    Section 83(1)—delete subsection (1)

  2. (2)

    Section 83(3)—delete subsection (3)

4Insertion of section 83A

After section 83 insert:

83A—Review

  1. (1)

    The Premier must undertake a review of the operation of section 83.

  2. (2)

    The review required under this section must commence not later than 12 months after the general election of members of the House of Assembly next occurring after the commencement of this section.

  3. (3)

    The Premier must prepare a report based on the review and must, within 12 sitting days after the report is prepared, cause copies of the report to be laid before each House of Parliament.
