Constitution (Demise of the Crown) Amendment Act 2016

An Act to amend the Constitution Act 1934.

The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:

Part 1Preliminary1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Constitution (Demise of the Crown) Amendment Act 2016.

2Amendment provisions

In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a specified Act amends the Act so specified.

Part 2Amendment of Constitution Act 19343Insertion of Part

After section 88 insert:

Part 6—Miscellaneous

89—Demise of the Crown

The demise of the Sovereign—

  1. (a)

    has the effect of transferring all the functions, duties, powers, authorities, rights, privileges and dignities belonging to the Crown to the Sovereign's successor; but

  2. (b)

    has no other effect in law for any purpose.
