AN ACT to amend the Constitution Acts Amendment

Act, 1899-1959.

[Assented to 20th November, 1962.]

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

and citation.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Constitution Acts Amendment Act (No. 2), 1962.

In this Act the Constitution Acts Amendment Act, 1899-1959, is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Constitution Acts Amendment Act, 1899-1962.

2. Section seven of the principal Act is amended.

(a)

by adding after the word, "born" in line five, the words, "or naturalised"; and

(b)

by substituting for the passage, ", or if not a natural born subject of the Queen, shall have been naturalised for five years previously to such election, and have resided in Western Australia during that period," in lines five, six, seven and eight, the passage, "and who is either an elector entitled to vote at an election of a member of the Legislative Assembly, or is qualified to become such an elector".

3. Section fifteen of the principal Act is

by substituting for the words, "or if not a natural born subject of the Queen shall have been naturalised for five years and shall have resided in Western Australia for two years previously to such election" in lines six, seven and eight, the words, "and who is either an elector entitled to vote at an election of a member of the Legislative Assembly or is qualified to become such an elector".
