Constitution Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 25 291 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled , and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Constitution Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Constitution Act Amendment Act 1896-1982 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Constitution Act Amendment Act 1896-1984. 2. Amendment of s. 3. Salaries of certain officials in Parliament. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting the note appearing in and at the beginning of the section and substituting the note " Salaries of office holders in Assembly."; (b) omitting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:- ,, (1) In addition to the salaries provided for in section 4 there shall be payable on and from 1 February 1984 to the holder of an office specified in the first column of the following Table a salary at the rate specified opposite to that office in the Table or, where some other rate per arinum" is pa'yable' for: the° time-being- under Part IV of the Constitution Acts Amendment Act1971-1983, at that other rate on and from the date on which that other rate becomes payable:- TABLE OFFICE Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Assembly Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Government Whip in the Legislative Assembly Opposition Whip in the Legislative Assembly Government Deputy Whip in the Legislative Assembly Leader in the Legislative Assembly of a recognized political party (other than Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader of the Opposition) RATE OF ADDITIONAL SALARY $14 693 per annum $5 785 $16 455 $5 250 $4 785 $4 785 $2 451 $2 451 „
292 Constitution Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 25 For the purposes of this subsection a recognized political party is a political party at least 10 members of which are members of the Legislative Assembly and no member of which is an Officer of the Crown declared under the OfficialsinParliament Act1896-1982 capable of being elected a member of the Legislative Assembly.".
