AN ACT to continue the appointment of The Con- servator of Forests for a certain period and to validate the functions of The Conservator of Forests during that period.

[Assented to 29th December, 1953.]

BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1.

This Act may be cited as The Conservator of Forests (Validation) Act, 1953.

which is made in the Forests Act, 1918-1931.

Extension of

Notwithstanding the provisions of section eight of the Forests Act, 1918-1931, the term of the appointment of the person who occupied the office of Conservator on the thirty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three, which term but for this section would have expired on that day, is deemed to have continued to and including the eighteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three.

4. In order to resolve any doubt as to the validity

of the functions of the Conservator during a certain period, it is declared that all functions which have been discharged or which purport to have been discharged by the Conservator pursuant to the provisions of the Forests Act, 1918-1931, since the thirty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three, to and including the eighteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three and which, but for this Act, may have been of doubtful validity, are ratified as lawful and confirmed.
