An Act providing for Increases in the Salaries
of certain Persons holding office under the Conciliation
and Arbitration Act 1904-1967.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate,
and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1968.
(2.) The Conciliation
and Arbitration Act 1904-1967 is in this Act referred to as the Principal
Act.
(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may
be cited as the Conciliation and
Arbitration Act 1904-1968.
Commencement.
2. This
Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Salary and allowances of Commissioners.
3.Section
16 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words “Ten
thousand four hundred” and “Nine thousand four hundred” and inserting in their
stead the words “Twelve thousand eight hundred and fifty” and “Eleven thousand
eight hundred and fifty”, respectively.
Salary and allowances of Conciliators.
4.Section
21 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words “Eight
thousand four hundred” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine thousand
six hundred and fifty”.
Salary increases prior to date of commencement
of this Act.
5.—(1.) In respect of the period from and including
the twenty-third day of December, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-six, to
and including the day before the day on which this Act comes into operation,
the Principal Act shall be deemed to have had effect as if—
(a)for the words “Ten thousand four
hundred,” and “Nine thousand four hundred” in sub-section (1.) of section 16
there were substituted the words “Eleven thousand two hundred and fifty” and “Ten
thousand two hundred and fifty”, respectively; and
(b)for the words “Eight thousand four
hundred” in sub-section (1.) of section 21 there were substituted the words “Nine
thousand and fifty”.
(2.) The Consolidated Revenue Fund is appropriated
to the extent necessary to pay to the Senior Commissioner and the Commissioners
of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission and to the
Conciliators appointed under the Principal Act the increases in salary provided
for by the last preceding sub-section.
