EXTENSION OF THE EXTENDED BAN PERIOD FOR THE INTERIM BAN ON HOVERBOARDS THAT DO NOT MEET SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

I, KELLY O’DWYER, Minister for Small Business and Assistant Treasurer, pursuant to section 111(6) of the Australian Consumer Law, which is Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, extend the extended ban period for the interim ban titled ‘Imposition of interim ban on hoverboards that do not meet specific safety requirements’ imposed via Consumer Protection Notice No. 3 of 2016 and extended via Consumer Protection Notice No. 5 of 2016, by a period of 30 days.

The interim ban period started on 19 March 2016 for a period of 60 days and was then extended for a further 30 days. The extended interim ban period ends on 16 June 2016.

The effect of this Notice is to extend the extended interim ban period by a further 30 days to 16 July 2016.

This Notice commences on 17 June 2016.
