PROVISIONAL REGULATION UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1902-1911.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulation under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902-1911 should come into immediate operation, and make the Regulation to come into operation forthwith as a Provisional Regulation.

Regulation 51, made under the provisions of the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902, is repealed, and a now Regulation in the following terms is made in lieu thereof:—

51. The Chief Officer may temporarily transfer an officer from one position to another. When it is necessary temporarily to fill a position by the transfer of an officer of lower class or grade, the senior competent officer whois available shall be selected. The Chief Officer shall cause a return to be forwarded monthly to the Public Service Inspector for transmission to the Commissioner showing all officers whose temporary transfer at the data of such return has exceeded a period of three months. The return shall show the reason for each temporary transfer. A temporary transfer shall not be continued if disapproved by the Commissioner.
