COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS (FOURTEENTH AMENDMENT 1921).

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902-1918, to come into operation from the 1st July, 1921.

Amendment of Commonwealth Public Service Regulations.

Grades of General Division.

1. Regulation 104 of the Public Service Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

“104. (1) The General Division shall be arranged in grades as set forth in Table A of this regulation.

(2) Except where otherwise provided, the limits of salary to be paid to an officer occupying any office designated in Table B or C of this regulation shall be those prescribed in respect of that office.

(3) The Governor-General may, from time to time, upon the recommendation of the Commissioner, create any office in the General Division not designated in Table B or C, and may fix the Grade in which the officer occupying the office shall be placed and the limits of salary for the office, or may raise or lower the grading of any office and fix the limits of salary therefor, or may raise or lower the salary of any office within a Grade, and thereupon Table B or C, as the case may be, shall be deemed to have been amended by the inclusion of the office which has been so created or the grading of which has been so raised or lowered, or by the inclusion of the salary of any office which has been so raised or lowered.

Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, if the rate of pay prescribed for an office named in this Table is less in any case than the rate determined by Arbitration Court or Wages Board to be paid for similar employment in the locality of employment, upon approval of the Commissioner, remuneration corresponding to the latter rate may be paid in respect of such office instead of the salary prescribed in this Table.

2. Regulations 104a and 104E of the Public Service Regulations are repealed.

3. Regulation 168b of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting therefrom the figures “£96” and inserting in their stead the figures “£114.”
