REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922 (AMENDMENT, 1924).

THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS appointed under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922, in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the said Act, and subject to the approval of the Governor-General, hereby makes the following amendment of the Regulations, such amendment to come into operation as from the 1st July, 1924.

Amendment of Commonwealth Public Service Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1923, No. 93, as amended to this date.)

Regulation 106 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulations:—

(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, upon the classification, in pursuance of section 27 of the Act, of any officers of the Fourth Division employed in any of the sections and offices specified in the following tables, those officers, and any officers subsequently promoted, appointed or transferred to those sections and offices, shall be paid salaries in accordance with the scales or amounts shown in those

(5) Where the Commonwealth Statistician notifies in the Gazette the index-number ascertained in respect of food, groceries, and housing combined, for the six capital cities of the Commonwealth for the twelve months preceding the 1st day of April in any year, and that index-number is less than 1620, or more than 1719, salary payable in pursuance of the last preceding sub-regulation shall be varied in the following manner:—

(a) In the cases of adult male officers receiving salary not exceeding £348, by increase or decrease of £6 in respect of each 50 points or portion thereof by which, respectively, the index-number exceeds 1719 or is less than 1620.

(b) In the cases of adult male officers receiving salary exceeding £348 but not exceeding £600, by increase or decrease of £12 in respect of each 100 points or portion thereof (exceeding 50 points) by which, respectively, the index-number exceeds 1719 or is less than 1620.

 

(c) In the cases of adult female officers, by increase or decrease of £9 in respect of each 100 points or portion thereof (exceeding 50 points) by which, respectively, the index-number exceeds 1719 or is less than 1620.

(d) In the cases of officers under 21 years of age, by increase or decrease of £6 in respect of each 100 points or portion thereof (exceeding 50 points) by which, respectively the index-number exceeds 1719 or is less than 1620.

(6) Any variation effected in pursuance of the last preceding sub-regulation shall take effect on the 1st day of July next following the notification, in the Gazette of the index-number, and shall continue in force for a period of twelve months.
