REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922 (FOURTEENTH AMENDMENT, 1924).

THEBOARD OF COMMISSIONERS appointed under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922, in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the said Act, and subject to the approval of the Governor-General, hereby makes the following amendment of the Regulations, such amendment to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Commonwealth Public Service Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1923, No. 93, as amended to this date.)

Regulation 87 is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead.—

“87. Where an officer has for at least twenty-six working days (continuously or in periods of not less than one day) within any period of twelve months performed, to the satisfaction of the Chief officer, the whole of the duties of a position higher than that in which he is classified, he shall be granted payment, after the completion of twenty-six working days, and while continuing to perform the higher duties, of an allowance at a rate not lower than the minimum prescribed for officers of the higher position:

Provided that—

(a) in the case of officers who ordinarily work seven days per week, such as light-keepers, the period of twenty-six working days mentioned shall be exclusive of Sundays.

(b)no additional payment shall be made to officers relieving in higher positions for any period not exceeding six weeks in any twelve months when such relief is necessitated either directly or indirectly through the absence of officers on recreation or sick leave; and

(c)an officer stationed at a lighthouse may be required without additional payment to relieve another in a higher position, who is on recreation or sick leave for aperiod not exceeding three months continuously.
