REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1924.

THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS appointed under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922-1924, in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the said Act, and subject to the approval of the Governor-General, hereby makes the following amendments of the Regulations, such amendments to come into operation as from the 17th February, 1928.

Amendments of Commonwealth Public Service Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1926, No. 212, as amended to this date.)

1. Regulation 49 is amended by inserting before sub-regulation (2) the following sub-regulation:—

“(1) Officers stationed at lighthouses or on lighthouse vessels may be granted by the Chief Officer leave of absence for twenty-eight days, exclusive of Sundays, in any year, for recreation purposes.”.

2. Regulation 67 is amended by omitting sub-regulation (12) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(12) Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, the Board may determine the conditions under which overtime shall be recorded and paid in the cases of officers employed on lighthouse vessels.”.

3. Regulation 70 is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (5) the words “nor to officers of the Treasury guard”, and inserting in their stead the words “nor, except in such cases as are approved by the Board, to officers employed on lighthouse vessels.”.

4. After regulation 73 the following regulation is inserted:—

Salary deductions for subsistence or lodging.

“73a. The Board may from time to time determine the rate per annum at which deductions shall be made from the salary of any officer who is provided with either subsistence or lodging, or with both:

Provided that in the case of an officer employed on a lighthouse vessel, no deduction shall be made in respect of any absence from such vessel on authorized leave exceeding one day.”.

5. After regulation 95 the following regulations are inserted:—

Allowance ship keeping duty; Engineers on lighthouse vessels.

“95a. An officer occupying a position of Engineer on a lighthouse vessel may be paid an allowance of fifteen shillings if he is required, whilst in port, to perform ship keeping duty between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Allowance for watching duty on lighthouse vessels in port.

“95b. An allowance at the rate of two shillings per hour may be paid to any officer employed on a lighthouse vessel who is required to perform watching duty in port between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.”.

6. Regulation 105a is amended by inserting after paragraph (a) the following paragraph:—

“(b) An officer occupying,, in the Department of Trade and Customs, an office of Radio Telegraphist, shall not be advanced in salary beyond £306 per annum except upon evidence to the satisfaction of the Board of efficiency in the performance of radio-telegraphic duties justifying such advancement.”.

7. Regulation 106 is amended by adding at the end of Table G the following particulars:—

An officer occupying an office of Radio Telegraphist, Fourth Division, shall, upon notification in the Gazette of his having passed an examination prescribed for transfer to the Third Division, become an officer of the Third Division as from the date of that notification, and shall thereupon be eligible, subject to the provisions of regulations 105 and 105a, for advancement to a maximum salary of £342 per annum

Advancement beyond £284 per annum shall be subject to compliance with such conditions as are from time to time determined by the Board. Upon compliance with such conditions, officer shall be designated Seaman (Able Bodied), and be paid not less than £276 per annum, and shall thereupon be eligible for advancement to the maximum salary of £300 per annum
