(
a ) by deleting paragraph (b ).(
b ) by deleting paragraph (d ) and inserting the following new paragraph in its stead:—“(
d ) An officer occupying, in the Department of Trade and Customs, an office of Junior Analyst shall upon reaching 21 years of age be designated “Analyst” and shall be paid a salary not less than £294 per annum, provided evidence is furnished to the satisfaction of the Board that the officer(i) has satisfactorily completed a period of three years’ training; and
(ii) has successfully completed a three years’ course in the theory and practice of chemistry at a Technical School or other institution approved by the Board.”
(
c ) by adding at the end of paragraph (j ) the following:—“In the case of an officer who has graduated in law, that officer may be advanced in salary beyond £456 per annum if in the opinion of the Board the character and importance of his work so warrant and the Board is satisfied that, owing to circumstances of location, it is not reasonably practicable to obtain any further necessary qualification for admission as a Barrister or Solicitor.”

d ) by deleting from paragraph (k ) the words “Home and Territories” and inserting in their stead the words “Home Affairs”.(
e ) by deleting from paragraphs (l ) and (m ) the words “Home and Territories” and inserting in their stead the words “Home Affairs”.(
f ) (i) by deleting from paragraph (n ) the words “and Railways” where appearing in the first line.(ii) by inserting in paragraph (
n ), after the word “unless” the following figure and words:—“(1) he has satisfactorily completed a period of three years’ training, and”
(iii) by deleting from paragraph (
n ) the figure “(1)” where at present first appearing, and inserting in its stead the figure “(2)”.(iv) by deleting from paragraph (
n ) the word “condition” wherever appearing in the last sub-paragraph, and inserting in its stead the word “conditions”.(v) by inserting in paragraph (
n ) after the figure “(1)”, wherever appearing in the last sub-paragraph, the word and figure “and (2)”.(
g ) by deleting from paragraph (o ) the words “and Railways” wherever appearing.(

ad )the following words:—“and subject to evidence to the satisfaction of the Board as to good conduct, diligence, and efficiency during training, and aptitude for the duties of Engineer,”(
m ) (i) by inserting in paragraph (ae ), after the word “has” where first appearing, the word “satisfactorily”.(ii) by deleting from paragraph (
ae ), the following words:—“and subject to evidence to the satisfaction of the Board as to good conduct, diligence and efficiency during training, and aptitude for the duties of Draftsman”.

“106b. (1) The Chief Officer may grant an allowance at the rate of £12 per annum to any Foreman Mechanic, Senior Mechanic or Mechanic who is employed at—
(i) a Carrier Repeating Station,
(ii) a Carrier Terminal Station,
(iii) a Trunk Line Testing Station,
(iv) a Telegraph Repeating Station, or
(v) a Chief Telegraph Office on telegraph maintenance duties,
provided—
(i) that the officer has demonstrated his proficiency to send and receive Morse signals at the rate of twenty words per minute, and
(ii) that the Superintending Engineer has certified that the officer is required in the performance of his duties to send and receive messages by Morse signals.”
(2) The Chief Officer shall advise the Board from time to time of any allowance granted in pursuance of this regulation.”
