REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1932.

THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS appointed under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922-1932, in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the said Act, and subject to the approval of the Governor-General, hereby makes the following Regulations.

Amendments of Commonwealth Public Service Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1926, No. 212, as amended to this date.)

1. Regulation 77 is amended—

(a) by omitting the words “to time of arrival of ” and insorting in their stead the words “of to time of arrival on return of”.

(b) By adding at the end thereof the following:—

“Provided that in the case of an officer travelling on permanent transfer to whom the provisions of regulation 119 are applicable the period shall be computed to time of arrival at the place to which he has been transferred.”

2. Regulation 130 is amended by inserting after the word “married ” in paragraph (a) the words “or who, having been married, is supporting a child of his marriage who is under the age of fourteen years ”.

3. Regulation 157 is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Examination for Fourth Division.

“157.—(1.) Competitive examinations may be hold for admission to the Service in the Fourth division and, except as otherwise prescribed, every candidate shall be examined in the following subjects:—

Full marks.

(a) Handwriting—To be judged for legibility, neatness and simplicity, from the candidate’s paper in Spelling...........................................................................................................................

(b) Spelling—To be judged from the candidate’s transcription of a mis-spelled paper..................

(c) Arithmetic—First four rules, including British standard weights, measures and money...........

200

(2.) A candidate shall not be regarded as having passed the examination unless he obtains at least half of the full marks in each of the subjects of Spelling and Arithmetic.
