REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC

 SERVICE ACT 1922-1948.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD appointed under the Commonwealth Public Service Act "1922-1948, in pursuance and exorcise of the authority conferred upon it by the said Act, und subject to the approval of the Governor-General, hereby ni alten the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations. 

Salaries of Officers of Third Division.

1. Regulation. 105 of the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from Table A in sub-regulation (1.) the figures "96", "108", "120", "144" and "168" and inserting in their stead the figures "114" "138", "162", "192" and "228", respectively ;

 (b) by omitting from Table 13 in sub-regulation (1.) the figures "96", "108", "120" and "144" and inserting in their stead the figures "114", "126", "138" and "150", respectively;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (3.) the figures "96", "108", "120", "144" and "168" and inserting in their stead the figures "114", "138", "162" "192" and "228", respectively;

(d) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (3.) the figures "96", "108", "120" and "144" and inserting in their stead the figures "114", "126", "138" and "150", respectively; and

(e) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (3.) the words and figures "Under 21 years of age .. .. 168" and inserting in their stead the words and figures–

"Under 21 years of ago (males) .. .. 228

Under 2.1 years of ago (females) .. .. 168."

2. Regulation 105 of the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations is amended by inserting the following sub-regulation:-

"(4.) The first adjustment of salaries under this regulation shall be made as from the commencement of the first fortnightly pay period commencing in October, 1948.".

Variations of salary on account of variations in post of living.

3. Regulation 106a of the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (2.) the words "Adult Females." and inserting in their stead the words figures "Adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age.";

(b) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (2.) the words and figures " Officers under 21 years of age." and inserting in their stead the words and figures " Officers under 19 years of ago.";

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words and figures

"£4 per annum' in the case of adult females and £3 per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age" and inserting in their stead the words and. figures "£4 per annum in the case of adult females and officers 10 and 20 years of ago, and £3 per annum in the case of officers under 19 years of ago ";

(d) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (4.) the words "Adult Females." and inserting in their stead the words and figures " Adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age.";

(e) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (4.) the words and figures " Officers under 21 years of age." and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Officers under 19 years of age.";

(f) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words and figures "£4 per annum in the ease of adult females and. £3 per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age" and inserting in their stead the words and figures "£4 per

annum in the case of adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of ago, and £3 per annum in the case of officers under 19 years of age ";

(g) by omitting from sub-regulation (6.) all the words and figures from and including the, words "Adult males" to the end of the sub-regulation and inserting in their stead the words and figures:—

and

(h) by omitting sub-regulation (8.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

" (8.) The first adjustment of salaries under this regulation shall be made as from the commencement of the first fortnightly pay period beginning in November, 1948, and shall be based on the index number for the six months ended on the thirtieth day of September, 1937, which shall be deemed to be 70.6.".

The Second Schedule.

4. The Second Schedule to the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the words and figures "Assistant Examiner (Patent Office), £120-£366" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Assistant Examiner (Patent Office), £162-£366" ;

(b) by omitting the words and figures "Clerk, £96-£342, Statistician's Branch, Department of the Treasury" and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Clerk, £114-£342, Statistician's Branch, Department of the Treasury";

(c) by omitting the words and figures "Legal Officer, Grade 1, £120-£522" and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Legal Officer, Grade 1, £162-£522"; and

(d) by omitting the words and figures "Meteorological Assistant, £96-£414" and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Meteorological Assistant, £114-£414".

The Third Schedule.

5. The Third Schedule to the Commonwealth Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the figures "96" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures "114"; and
