REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE

ACT 1922-1950.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Service Act 1922-1950.

Amendments of the commonwealth public service

(parliamentary officers) regulations. 

Citation.

1. Regulation 1 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting the word " Commonwealth ".

Definitions.

2.Regulation 4 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary 'Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of " the Act " and inserting in its stead the following definition :—

" ' the Act ' means the Public Service Act 1922-1950; ".

Variations of salary on account of variations in cost of living.

3.—(1.) Regulation 75 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation(2.) the words " Adult Females." and inserting in their stead the words and :figures " Adult females and officers who have attained the age of 19 years but have not attained the age of 21 years." ;

(b) by omitting from that table the words and figures " Officers under 21 years of age." and inserting in their stead the words and figures "Officers who have not attained the age of 19 years." ;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words and figures " £4 per annum in the ease of adult females and £3 per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age " and inserting in their stead the words and figures " £4 per annum in the case of adult females and officers who have attained the age of nineteen years but have not attained the age of twenty-one years, and £3 per annum in the case of officers who have not attained the age of nineteen years " ;

 (d) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (4.) the words " Adult Females." and inserting in their stead the words and figures " Adult females and officers who have attained the age of 19 years but have not attained the age of 21 years." ;

(e) by omitting from that table the words and figures " Officers under 21 years of age." and inserting in their stead the words and figures " Officers who have not attained the age of 19 years." ;

(f) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words and figures " £4 per annum in the case of adult females and £3 per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age " and inserting in their stead the words and figures "£4 per annum in the case of adult females and officers who have attained the age of nineteen years but have not attained the age of twenty-one years, and £3 per annum in the case of officers who have not attained the age of nineteen years " ; and

(g) by omitting from sub-regulation (6.) all the words and figures from and including the words " Adult males " to the end of the sub-regulation and inserting in their stead the words and figures

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the seventh day of November, 1948.

Variations of salary on account of variations in cost of living.

4.—(1.) Regulation 75 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation :—

" (1.) For the purpose of this regulation, ‘ index number ' means the weighted average retail price index number for the six State capital cities of the Common-wealth as shown in the ‘ Court ' Index (Second Series) of retail price index numbers published from time to time by, or at the direction of, the Commonwealth Court of Conciliation and Arbitration." ;

 

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (6.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation :—

“ (6.) The following amounts shall be added to salaries payable in pursuance of Part IV. of these Regulations after variation, if any, has been made in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this regulation :—

(c)by adding after sub-regulation (7.) the following sub-regulation :—

" (8.) Where, by reason of his occupancy of an office, an officer who has not attained the age of twenty-one years is paid salary at the rate payable to an officer who has attained that age, the salary payable to the first-mentioned officer shall, notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, be varied as if that officer was an adult.".

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the fourteenth day of December, 1950.
