Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902.—Section 3.

EXEMPTIONS.

ON the 15th December, 1902, His Excellency the Governor-General in Council, upon the recommendation of the Commissioner, pursuant to the provisions of Section 3 of the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902, declared that the provisions of the said Act shall not apply to the officers and classes of officers hereinafter mentioned, such exemptions to remain in force until 30th June, 1903.

CLASS EXEMPTIONS.

Classes of Employes.

Persons employed at non-official post offices, contract post offices, or non-official receiving offices, and receivers of mail bags in country districts.

Officers' wives and others acting occasionally as postal assistants, and remunerated by fixed annual allowances.

Female telegraph messengers assisting in country post offices.

Line repairers and linemen, other than those on permanent staff on 1st January, 1903, labourers in line-repairing gangs, protection labourers, teamsters, horse-drivers, camp-keepers, and cooks.

Aborigines.

Interpreters.

Medical officers.

Gardeners.

Watchmen.

Labourers (casual) employed in country districts.

Housekeepers, office cleaners (female), and charwomen.
