COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE

An Act to provide for the appointment, temporarily, of an Acting Public Service Commissioner.

BE it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Commonwealth Public Service (Acting Commissioner) Act 1916.

Appointment of Acting Public Service Commissioner.

2.—(1.) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1902-1915 the Governor-General may appoint William Burton Edwards, Esquire, Public Service Inspector, to be Acting Public Service Commissioner, as from the fourth day of May, One thousand nine hundred and sixteen, to hold office as such Acting Public Service Commissioner until the appointment of a person to be Public Service Commissioner, or until the Governor-General otherwise directs.

(2.) The salary payable to the said William Burton Edwards, Esquire, while holding office as such Acting Public Service Commissioner, shall be at the rate of Twelve hundred pounds a year, and shall be payable out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, which is hereby appropriated accordingly for the purpose.
