COMMONWEALTH POWERS (MEAT INSPECTION) ACT

1983-PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South

Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 3 of the Commonwealth Powers (Meat Inspection) Act 1983, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 30 June 1997 as the day on which section 4 of that Act ceases to be in force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 4 (1) of the Commonwealth Powers (Meat Inspection) Act 1983 refers the

matter of inspection of meat that is intended for human consumption or for use as animal food, to the extent to which it is not otherwise included in the legislative powers of the Commonwealth, to the Parliament of the Commonwealth. Section 4 (2) provides that on the date that section 4 ceases to be in force any laws made by that Parliament as a result of the reference cease to have any force or effect.

This Proclamation appoints a day on which section 4 will cease to be in force.
