ORDINANCE

COMMONWEALTH MOTOR OMNIBUS FARES REGULATIONS*

REGULATIONS 1967, No. 1t

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on the third day of February,

1967.

2. Regulation 3 of the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended by omitting from the definition of " school child " the words " under the age of eighteen years ".

3. Regulation 5 of the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words "First Schedule" and inserting in their stead the word " Schedule ".

4. Regulation 6 of the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the follow­ ing sub-regulation:—

" (1.) Subject to these Regulations, the fare to be charged in respect of a journey by a child is Five cents in respect of a journey of less than six sections and Ten cents in respect of a journey of six or more sections.".
5. Regulation 9 of the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words "one-half of the full fare in respect of the journey or, if the full fare in respect of the journey is not an even number of cents, one-half of the amount ascertained by deducting One cent from the full fare " and inserting in their stead the words " Five cents in respect of a journey of less than six sections and Ten cents in respect of a journey of six or more sections ";

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (2 . ) and inserting in its stead the follow­

ing sub-regulations:—

" (2 . ) Subject to this regulation, the fare to be charged in respect of a journey to or from the Australian National University or the Canberra Technical College by a person to whom the full fare would, but for this sub-regulation, be applicable, being a person who—

(a) is a student under eighteen years of age, or a full-time student of not less than eighteen years of age but less than twenty-five years of age, attending a course of study or instruction at that University or College; and

(6) is travelling to that University or College for purposes connected with that course or from that University or College after attending it for purposes connected with that course,

is Five cents in respect of a journey of less than six sections and

Ten cents in respect of a journey of six or more sections.

" (2A.) Except—

(a) as provided by sub-regulation (4.) of regulation 6 of

these Regulations; and

(b) on a journey which commences during week-day peak

hours,

the fare to be charged in respect of a journey by a school child when travelling in an omnibus other than an omnibus provided specially for school children is Five cents in respect of a joumey of less than six sections and Ten cents in respect of a journey of more than six sections";

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the word and figure " o r (2.) " and inserting in their stead the word and figures ", (2.) or (2A.) " ; and

(d) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

" ( 4 . ) In this regulation, 'week-day peak hours ' means the periods from half-past seven o'clock to nine o'clock in the morning and from half-past four o'clock to six o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, not being a holiday, of each week.".

6. After regulation 9 of the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regula­ tions the following regulation is inserted:—

" 9A. On and after the establishment by the Minister under the Common­ wealth Motor Omnibus Service Ordinance 1955-1966 of an express service between Woden Valley Interchange located at Curtin near the junction of Melrose Drive and Theodore Street and City, Manuka or Kingston or the Russell Offices, the fare to be charged in respect of a journey on an omnibus employed in the service and on which is displayed a notice bearing the words ' Express Service' is Ten cents or, in the case of a child, Five cents.".

7. The Schedule to the Commonwealth Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule inserted in its stead:—
